Brandon Yates – September 2015 Member of the Month

BYCongratulations to Brandon Yates, DiverseMedicine September 2015 Member of The Month.  Brandon, earned his Bachelors of Science in Biology from University of North Carolina-Greensboro and he is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Physiology at North Carolina State University. Since joining DiverseMedicine, Brandon has been a very active member of our community and has been inspiring other premedical students from day one. He is often quick to share information which he picked up elsewhere in our forums to ensure his fellow DiverseMedicine premedical students are all “in the know”. When asked why he is pursuing Medicine Brandon states, “Medicine involves problem-solving skills, thinking quickly on your feet, communicating efficiently and being altruistic. I am pursing a career in medicine because it will allow me to continue to be a life-long learner, communicate science and medical knowledge effectively in order to improve the health of others and leave lasting positive impacts. One day, I hope to be in a position where I can help other pre-medical students fulfill their dreams in becoming a health care professional.” He believes that we all have our own unique and special journey to achieving a career in medicine. Brandon exclaims that he has made it to the point where he is today in great part because of help from other people. “The DiverseMedicine community is important, because it allows pre-medical students to network and connect with other students and health care professionals. It provides opportunities for all of us to share our own obstacles and how we overcame them, provide helpful advice and most importantly serve as motivators. Each individual has something to special to offer whether it is a helpful tool, skill that can potentially help another student or a word of encouragement. It is my goal to continue to be a motivator, share my experiences and be as helpful as I can to other premedical students in the DiverseMedicine community.”
