Dr. Susan feels she has been blessed that she is, in part, the product of good mentors and advisors along the way. She is excited to be working with DiverseMedicine Inc. She deeply believes in the positive impact that DiverseMedicine will have on today’s aspiring minority physicians. Dr. Susan feels DiverseMedicine is such an important endeavor and says, “There is no question that the momentum will grow behind getting more minorities and economically disadvantaged students into medical careers. Yet, the resources needed to achieve this has been comparatively lacking in these communities in the past. One of the key resources is mentoring. DiverseMedicine is optimally poised to help address this.”
Dr. Susan is a firm believer in giving back and paying-it-forward. She says, “I love the way First Lady Michelle Obama put it ‘When you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you don’t slam it shut behind you. You reach back and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed’ ”. Dr. Susan hopes to achieve that as much as possible.
